What is ITI?
The Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational is an annual gathering of collegiate Japanese American drumming groups from across western America. Together, we attend workshops, participate in team-building activities, and put on a massive performance at the end of the weekend (that’s open to the public)! This year’s ITI is at Stanford, and hosted by Stanford Taiko.
You can learn more about taiko here.
Collegiate Teams
We have 13 collegiate taiko teams from across the west coast coming to learn, meet other teams, and perform!
Instructors
We have 19 professional taiko players or professional taiko groups from across the western US coming to teach workshops, including foundational members of North American taiko itself. They will give an introductory performance to attendees at the beginning of the weekend. See the program for the instructor performance here.
Joint Concert
We are hosting a two hour joint performance from all the groups in attendance, from 4-6pm on Sunday, May 25th at Dinkelspiel Auditorium! Come see all the unique styles and signature pieces.
