We’ll explore classic Taiko Together pieces like “Aisatsu Song” and “Mochi Megane” to strengthen ensemble listening and rhythmic sensitivity, while using playful musical activities to deepen team cohesion. Participants will engage in interactive games, body percussion, and group movement exercises that highlight trust, communication, and the collective nature of taiko. The chappa is a versatile instrument often overlooked in a taiko ensemble. Almost every group has a pair of chappa but often nobody wants to play it! The goal of this workshop is to learn basic patterns and techniques that will help you develop facility with the instrument and unlock its sonic potential. By the end of this workshop participants will have patterns that they can practice and be excited about the potential of the instrument.
