• Workshop 1—Yatai

  • Workshop 2—Polyrhythms

If you love rhythm, why not play two (or more) at the same time? Practicing polyrhythms can be a fun and engaging way to strengthen our understanding of the music we love to play — and you may just find yourself with a few new tricks up your sleeve to add additional flair to solos and compositions, too!

  • Workshop 3—Taiko FUNdamentals: Reimagining Play and Collaboration

Get ready to move, laugh, and connect in Taiko FUNdamentals, an interactive workshop that taps into the joy of taiko through rhythm games, movement, and creative play. Designed for collegiate players of all experience levels, this session reintroduces fundamentals with a collaborative twist—celebrating adaptability, group connection, and mutual support. We’ll explore classic Taiko Together pieces like “Aisatsu Song” and “Mochi Megane” to strengthen ensemble listening and rhythmic sensitivity, while using playful musical activities to deepen team cohesion. Participants will engage in interactive games, body percussion, and group movement exercises that highlight trust, communication, and the collective nature of taiko. Whether you’re looking to refresh your foundation, discover new ways to collaborate with your team, or simply want to experience taiko in a joyful and radically inclusive space—this workshop is for you. All bodies and access needs are welcome. Let’s reimagine taiko together through play, connection, and community.
