  • Workshop 1—Midare-Uchi

    Workshop 1

    Participants will have the opportunity to learn the history of Midare-Uchi/Matsuri Taiko from Tokyo, Japan. Participants will also explore movements while building awareness between themself and the drum.

  • Workshop 2—Yodan Uchi Fundamentals

    Fundamental concepts and drills will be taught along with iconic patterns to start participants on the path for good Yodan Uchi playing.

  • Workshop 3—Fue: Beginning Technique, Drills, and Scales

    We will learn various techniques on how to approach the shinobue on #6, #7, and/or #8 utabue which are shinobue tuned to a Western scale. We will learn different scales that I use to compose melodies.

    • 12:05-1:25pm: Spiking for most of the teams for Collegiate Concert @ Dinkelspiel Auditorium

    1:30 pm – 2:00 pm: Walk to second workshop

    2:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Workshop 2

    4:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Taiko Tabling @ Braun Patio 

    5:00 pm – 6:30 pm: Dinner 

    • Finale Practice: 5:45 – 6:15 pm
